FILM OVERVIEW:
A crew from the united federation of planets has been sent several light years away to Altair 4 to find the missing crew that landed 20 years previously. As the approach the plant the are tracked and warned by Dr. Edward Morbius (Walter Pidgeon) to turn back and leave without landing. A warning which of course they ignore.
Opon arrival they learn that Dr Morbius and his daughter are the soul survivers of the party from 20 years previously, the rest of the crew being torn to pieces by some planetary force, which has since disappeared. The plot thickens as The commander and the doc (Leslie Nielsen and Warren Stevens) dicover from Morbius that the planet was once inhabited by a race known as the Krell who were millions of years ahead of us technologically. As time moves on this new landing party are now experiencing the deadly workings of the planetary force that killed the previous crew. Could the be some link between this force and the Krell who have now been extinct for 500,000 years.

Some of you will have seen this and know what a great movie it is and others will have heard the title and never got round to watching it.
To the latter. What are you waiting for ?
This is one of the greatest Sci-Fi movies of all time.
The Cinematography gives the planet a wonderfull combination of beauty and forboding. The special effects as the film moves on are way ahead of the time. The Krell technology is brilliantly thought out and mind boggling to say the least and the plot is sinister and gripping.
Something invisible, unstoppable and deadly is lurking behind the scenes. You dont know what it is, when its going to strike and worst of all who is going to be next.
They just dont make them like this any more.

BTW, this is a sci-fi movie interpretation of Shakespear's "The Tempest".
