Nat�rlich wei� auch die sch�ne Rebellin Thuy Errungenschaften wie die Eisenbahn oder elektrisches Licht zu sch�tzen, doch mehr noch liebt sie die Freiheit ihrer Heimat. Das sieht Cuong tief im Innern ganz �hnlich, und l�sst sich von der Sch�nen nur allzu bereitwillig zur gemeinsamen abenteuerlichen Flucht durchs Land verleiten. Die ehemaligen Kollegen zeigen wenig Verst�ndnis.
