What is a VPN? a VPN (vitrual private network) is a emulator for a LAN (local area network).
A LAN is most commonly used when 2 computers are hooked up with a router.
When you set up a LAN you can get from 2 to 50 ips all in the same range.
Example
192.168.1.1 - Dosent get used
192.168.1.2 - computer in first router slot
192.168.1.3 - computer in second router slot
192.168.1.4 - PS3
just add that for effect
When you connect to a LAN game server, you will only see the people in your IP range.
So you must make sure you set up your VPN correctly or you will fail to play online.

5.182.23.122 - Network Host
5.190.50.222 - connected to the VPN
5.33.188.111 - connected to the VPN
Most pc games dont require authization to play in a LAN server, but some games do have ping blocks or adpter blocks that will stop your VPN ip from showing up ingame.
( Dont worry about this game its been tested and works great)
Always make sure your VPN ip is used ingame and you can ping each other before you try connecting.

Wippien VPN
Not all VPN's are created equal, Hamachi is known for easy connection but has heavy bandwidth relays.
Wippien is a free vpn that has low bandwidth relays
but connection is sometimes bugged.(invisable contacts ect.)
Leaf is known as a Xbox vpn emulator more then anything but it works with pc games very well.
But like wippien when connecting it relies on you adding each contact manuelly to establish a VPN.
The choice is yours ive made 3 dedicated websites to each of these VPNs you may add your post to my forums if you want to host or request a game group.
