When talking about German Hard Rock, the name BOYSVOICE soon comes to mind. Located in Munich, the band centred around singer & guitarist Mani Gruber. They established themselves quickly in the scene during the late 80's and with the debut album "BoysVoice" (EMI, 1990) they received exceptional status in the Hard Rock world. The album spawned various hit singles and video clips including the hymns "City Of Your Dreams" and the dance floor classic "Love Stealer" by combining power, catchiness, fat guitar playing by Peter Diezel, together with massive melodies and choruses. A unique sound was born! The video clips gained airplay on MTV and a headliner tour in Germany followed as well as various support slots for SWEET and IAN GILLAN plus appearances at various European festivals. Unfortunately, a planned co-headliner tour with label mates AXXIS was cancelled at the last minute. In 1991, EMI decided not to pick up the second album but BOYSVOICE nevertheless played more than 100 gigs during the year and wrote new songs before drummer Alex Hötzinger decided to leave in early 1992. Replacement was soon found with Markus Becker. Shortly afterwards, bassist Jochen Mayer left to join fellow German Hard Rockers CASANOVA. The new man on bass in BOYSVOICE was Jochen Becht…which leads us to the band's second album "Dirty Talks". This album saw the light of day in 1993 on KDC but suffered from the current Grunge trend and despite containing great songs such as "Money", "Dressed To Kill" and "World's Goin' Crazy" it unfortunately remained in the dark!
During the following years both albums turned into rare collector's items and these days still are sold for high prices at internet auctions. Mani Gruber became a highly successful composer for movie and TV soundtracks, Jochen Mayer played bass guitar in DEMON DRIVE and CASANOVA until early 2004 and later on joined DOMAIN, Peter Diezel made himself a big name world-wide, manufacturing unique guitar amps and Alex Hötzinger gained success as one of Berlin's most wanted Jazz drummers. The year 2004. The band met and brought back memories by watching the old video clips and pictures, and checking out the classic songs - and decided to continue where they had stopped - almost 12 years ago! The result is "Serenity" - same guys, same power … NEW ALBUM!
